Virtual Appliances: An Infrastructure-Control Framework
What is a Virtual Appliance?
GMx Solutions has developed Virtual Appliances, a line of enterprise infrastructure support applications to give your systems administrators the tools they need to control,
manage, and operate your enterprise-computing environment.
Easy to install. Server and client components can be
installed quickly without requiring special expertise
from your staff.
Self-Contained. Virtual Appliances are designed to be
black boxes that are placed in your environment and
operate without affecting your other business solutions.
You just install them and use.
Simple to operate. The command set and GUI components provide a simple base set of functions
that your systems administrators can understand and start using immediately.
Powerful. VAPs also contain more advanced functionality your system administrators can use to
provide more robust control for your business-computing environment.
Reliable. Once you install and configure VAPs they take care of themselves, functioning efficiently
to help your systems administrators control your enterprise-computing environment.
Flexible. VAPs can help you control your enterprise-computing environment without requiring
you to change the way you run your IS department. And as your IS practices evolve; VAPs will support your
processes, rather than forcing you to adopt ours.
| The Virtual Appliance concept allows
GMx Solutions to create products that provide a higher level of security and scalability while maximizing the use of
the computing infrastructure. Each Virtual Appliance is based upon a custom Linux distribution developed by GMx
Solutions to provide a rock solid, secure platform from which to host the Virtual Appliances.
GMx Solutions' suite of Virtual Appliances provide key infrastructure services such as
Enterprise Authentication, Event Logging, Service Monitoring, and
Change Control tightly packaged into efficient, easily maintained "Appliance" images.
