VAPServer: Plug-and-Play Infrastructure Management for ANY Open Systems Enterprise
What is the VAPServer?
The VAPServer is a self-contained hardware appliance that allows you to quickly implement hardened infrastructure management tools for any Open System enterprise. When you introduce the VAPServer into your enterprise, you install the hardware appliance on your network, then apply thin, feature-rich agents to the hosts you want to all hosts to which you want to provide service.
The VAPServer allows you to introduce the CM_SAFE configuration file management tool into your enterprise quickly and without disrupting your existing enterprise.
CM_SAFE: Configuration File Management for Open Systems Enterprises
The VAPServer hardware appliance features CM_SAFE, a robust configuration file management system for Open Systems servers. CM_SAFE provides your system administrators with the power to exercise the following control functions over your enterprise configuration files:
- Store server configuration files for individual hosts or groups of hosts in a centralized configuration repository.
- Use robust analysis tools to isolate misconfigurations that cause problems in your enterprise's operation.
- Restore previous versions of configuration files, allowing your system administrators to fix problems caused by misconfigurations with a single command.
- Create Disaster Recovery Kits (DRKs™) that store configuration assets for your hosts in recovery images that can be restored with a single command.
|
The CM_SAFE Advantage
When you use CM_SAFE, you can easily perform the following functions:
- View records of all changes made to system configuration files.
- Allow testing and production state rollbacks to previous known-working configurations.
- Quickly build a replacement server.
- Facilitate the use of baseline forward commits to perform root-cause analysis of problems.
- Create enterprise-wide configuration disaster recovery plans.
- Create reproducible quality assurance baselines.
- Document who makes or requests configuration changes.
- Integrate change-control activity into your current systems maintenance processes.
